Where you Lead...

Alexis Bledel was on tonight's Teen Choice Awards. I didn't actually watch but I saw the picture and I wanted to show everyone how pretty she looked. That is all.

This is the suit they buried my dad in...

Sean Gunn aka Kirk is in a new set of commercials for KGB. It's like a shout out from Star's Hollow during What Not to Wear!

WHAT!!?!

What can't Rory do???? I thought she was probably still traveling with Obama but I tuned in to the NBC this evening and apparently she's a DOCTOR too! How come Emily and Richard haven't bragged about this? I feel like I am really out of the loop.

Brazzlefrat. Bendelschnitz.

Last week I was really sick, so besides feeling sorry for myself all I did was watch Gilmore Girls. I'm convinced my Gilmore high was part of the reason that after three days of bingeing, I felt almost completely better. I decided to copy Alison and comprise a list of (some of) my favorite moments (in no particular order):

-Rory calls Logan a "Jerk! Ass, arrogant, inconsiderate, mindless, frat-boy, lowlife, butt-faced miscreant"

-Jess and Rory hold hands before their first kiss

-Rory sings 'Candy Man' after she loses her V to stupid Dean

-Lane agrees to marry Zach and (I think) Babette says, "kiss him sugar" and Kirk excitedly yells, "Yea, kiss him sugar!"

-Lorelai convinces Rory to put sugar on her toes to make Paul Anka like her

-At the winter carnival right before she makes a ridiculous throw to knock over some bottles, Rory says to Jess, "I'm a girl, we're supposed to throw like this." (I'd be offended if it weren't so hilarious)

-Paris gets drunk and makes this odd raspberry noise to people who won't give her some change

-Rory gets frustrated when she tries to end her open relationship with Logan and says, "I need a taco."

-On Rory's first night at Yale, she and Lorelai howl at some boys. (The end of that scene kills me)

-After Rory does the deed with stupid Dean again, Lane says the "Miss Patty would be so proud" to know that Rory did it at her studio

-For some reason Richard and Emily open up their house for people to look at like a museum and a lady sees the family having dinner and says "Oh, look they even hired actors" and Richard indignantly says, "We are not actors!" (It doesn't sound funny but the way he says it crack me up)

-Lastly, and most importantly, my favorite scene is when Jess goes into the bookstore that my good friend Alison took me to in Venic Beach

There are many other where that came from, cause frankly I could probably come up with a few from every episode, but I'll leave those for other sick days.

I feel ya, buddy.

Gilmore Quote of the Day: "I tried to work in a nice suicide, but my schedule wouldn't allow it!" --Jackson when he's still townselectman in the episode "We got us a Pippi Virgin" which we watched since Mick got Pippi Longstocking from Netflix and I keep singing the Gilmores singing part of the theme song. Last night I drank waaay too much wine (again, and it was hella cheap, I mean like $3 a bottle and it dyed my lips and tongue purple) and passed out during Pippi. I'm surprised/disappointed no one lifted any greenish horses above their heads in my dreams.

Do North or South Side Tilly know about this?

Mick and I are finally the proud owners of the complete Gilmore series and just finished watching the last episode together. Which leads me to point out...East Side Tilly: the greatest character we never see!

If you have lots of time on your hands, like we do apparently, check out this unofficial site. It apparently puttered out before the last season but it has tons of quizzes (though apparently doesn't see fit to tell you, when wrong, what the correct answer is...) and some of the music featured (Trace, did you notice "Love Burns" in "One's Got Class and the other one Dyes"?). Sadly, no pics of East Side Tilly. Maybe she's best left to the imagination.

While driving to the grocery store (syrup, half and half, Triscuts and english muffins, now you're all caught up on our lives) Mick and I were discussing favorite Gilmore moments. Maybe compiling a top ten list is in our future. So far I came up with these:
1. The marathon Friday Night Fight montage.
2. Gil's rendition of "Hollaback Girl" complete with bogus bag line.
3. When Paris covers for Rory when Dean discovers she and Jess at the house.
4. Luke and Lore's first kiss, as interrupted by naked Kirk.
5. My pick for best Emily and Lorelai moment is in the last episode when Lorelai suggests continuing Friday night dinners--that one fleeting moment when you catch something closed to pleased/happy on Emily's face!...then her normal face kicks back in. Eh, what can you do. (When they get drunk and have a computer lesson and discuss canoes vs. kayaks comes in close 2nd.)
6. When Jess comes to visit Rory and Logan is a total d-bag and Jess tries to figure out what Rory's problem is. Is anything more swoonworthy then him yelling "Who knows you better then me?" (Well, actually he would probably come in after Lorelai in a knowing Rory contest, but let's not argue semantics, shall we not?)
7. Rory and Lorelai singing the theme to Pippi Longstocking during the double date.
8. When Rory comes back to the Inn after the long fight and Michel lets excitement to see her slip through his normally French demeanor.
9. When Rory, Lane, and Paris share a moment drinking Miss Patty's Founder's Day Punch.

10. Um...hmm. I do like it when Richard and Emily come to Rory's birthday party and Richard reads a Cosmopolitan on the front porch. But I also like when Michel and Sookie both have ennui. And Lane's wedding when they run from the house to the church...OK. Maybe it would be more of top 20 list. Let me know what I'm missing, please.

Gilmore Sighting

Jared Padalecki aka Dean is going to be in the new Friday the 13th. Now if only Jason Voorhees would've taken care of him in season one or two we could've had more scenes with Jess.

p.s. What up with the Gilmore men in horror movies?

Gilmore siting #2!

OK, so we keep seeing commercials for The Uninvited and beyond the fact that I can't get over Elizabeth Banks in a role that's not comic, I couldn't place the main daughter and didn't think to look it up. However I did think to look it up just now when I realized that the other daughter is none other then Arielle Kebbel, a.k.a. Lindsay, Dean's wife on Gilmores! AND then in the process I realized the main daughter is none other then Emily Browning, a.k.a. Violet from the Lemony Snickett movie (and young Sharin Foo of The Raveonettes doppleganger as figured out by Traci)! Job well done, Carley. My work here is done.
For now.

In bed

"No, Rory, this great man was not brought down by my vagina." Paris, in response to Rory's hedging suggestion Asher Flemming died mid-coitus.

AND it had girl on on girl action!

Gilmore Girls season 4, episode 17, "Girls in bikinis, boys doin' the twist," original airdate: April 13, 2004.

Garden State
, movie, released on September 22, 2004.

The Shins appeared in some capacity in both. However April comes before September, so...

Sorry, Zach Braff.
The Gilmores scooped ya.

Digger, blah

Lorali: I'm going to the coatroom to make out, don't eat my chicken.
Rory: That's going on your tombstone.

Gilmore siting!

I saw a preview for Confessions of a Shopaholic which looks pretty cute and I spotted Krysten Ritter who played Lucy of Lucy and Olivia/Lucy and Marty fame. I always liked Lucy and Olivia (brief though they were on the show), especially Lucy. So I'm glad to finally see SOMEONE doing something after the untimely demise of the Gilmores. Well, besides Lauren Graham who apparently has a new show coming out, fingers crossed. And something that looks to be actually viewable, yes I am speaking to you Scott Patterson in the Saw series.

Gilmore Girls Quote of My Day

Alright so most of this weekend I was trapped in my apt due to this hellacious thing we call winter and I've been rotating between movies and Gilmore Girls so expect far more of these posts:

"If I wanted to play pin-pong, I would... Well, if I wanted to play ping-pong, I would kill myself." -Emily Gilmore-

Gimore Girls Quote of My Day

Sookie: Okay, here we go. Low fat, whole wheat blueberry pancakes.
Michel: Are there 12?
Sookie: 12 what?
Michel: Blueberries. I can only have 12 blueberries for breakfast.
Sookie: Or what?
Michel: What do you mean, or what?
Sookie: What happens if you eat 13 blueberries?
Michel: This is a silly conversation.
Sookie: Would you die?
Michel: Just hand me the plate.
Sookie: Only if you don't count.
Michel: I won't count.
Sookie: Swear. Raise your right hand and say, 'May Destiny's Child break up if I count these blueberries.'
Michel: Pick another group.
Sookie: Nope.
Michel: I hate you! Hate you!

Gimore Quote of My Day

Backstory: Michel has been ingesting 2% milk in his coffee instead of Non-fat because the store has changed the milk color system

Lorelai: Isn't his bouncing bothering you?

Sookie: It was but now it's kind of like having a Beyonce video on.

Michel: Now I have to burn off all these calories and have to deal with 2% milk withdrawal.

58 seats and 62 Koreans!

Gilmore re-run quotes of the day:
"You can't dance to Joy Division!" -Lane's crazy cousin.
"You're going to have to do it with this boy, you're just going to have to do it." -Mrs. Kim.

P.S. Some kind hearts let my boy borrow their first season DVD's so don't be surprised by frequent Gilmore posts.

R.I.P. Jess and Rory

Is anything sadder then the fateful last meeting of Jess and Rory in Philadelphia? How were we to know the actors would break up in real life, thusly robbing us of a Jess and Rory triumphant reunion? In my heart, they are together, somewhere. Probably on the East Coast. And she has a really great haircut...yeah, that sounds about right.

He ain't no hollaback girrrrl

One of my fav things about Gilmore Girls is how music is such a big thing (remember the troubadours taking over the town square much to Taylor's chagrin?). Today's morning re-run was a prime example, like Rory getting ready to "Kool Thing" by Sonic Youth and Joel from The Brian Jonestown Massacre making a tambourine cameo. But by far the best part, and what could possibly be included on a Top Ten Gilmore Moments List, was Sebastian Bach's rendition of "Hollaback Girl." What other show would have the genius to have the lead singer of Skid Row doing a word-perfect cover of Gwen Stefani? Bonus points for lauding the girl power in it after. And the Hava Nagilia after that (did I mention it was at a bat mitzvah? Brilliant!) didn't suck either. I have a special place for the old Hava in my heart ever since our catholic school chorus class sang it at our spring recital. Having a future Jewish sister-in-law means I have a rocking Jewish wedding to look forward to and best believe, I will be rocking it. Hmmm, I wonder if Sebastian is free...
Runner-up for best moment was the possible creation of CandyShipBattleLand.

Gilmore quote of the day: "You're way deep in my bogus bag and it's ziplocked shut." Mr. Bach, natch.

Gilmore re-run quotes of the day

"I have given you the Lincoln Logs, now it's up to you to build the cabin." Luke to Kirk, the most awkwardly endearing bromance to date.

"Does the dress say slutty?" Lorelai.
"No, but the person inside the dress..." Rory.
"You're breaking up! The house is going through a tunnel!" Lorelai.
