Oh. My. Dad.

I saw this Twitter account referenced on an acquaintance's Facebook page and decided to check it out because I liked the name. But wow- the name is only a little hint of a glimmer in to the brilliance of these tweets:

Here is one I found from the past few weeks, with much less swearing than most of them (it almost makes me feel like my bro doesn't swear THAT much- he swears slightly less than this guy's dad). You gotta check this dude out.
"Your brother brought his baby over this morning. He told me it could stand. It couldn't stand for shit. Just sat there. Big let down."

Some say hate, I say love

I am reliving Kanye's Storytellers, showing Brett my favorite part of the hour:

During "Touch the Sky" Kanye pontificates- "I am so disappointed that I can not see me perform except for on playback.  My greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see me perform.  So you are welcome to know a pleasure that I will never have."

Now, some people would say that is why they don't like Kanye- his ego is out of control, he's played out and he has an entitlement issue.  But- this is the exact reason I LOVE Kanye- he knows the ego is ridiculous (but I happen to think he can back it up), he can make fun of himself (in retrospect anyway) and his talent is somehow enhanced by the ego. On which side of the fence do you fall?

I am just really sad that I will never get to read my posts, I can only write them.  You all are so lucky. Really.

Hours of online entertainment

I don't think I am exaggerating when I say- this is the most amazing thing ever.

Reenactors: the unsung heroes.

No, I'm not talking about those people who dress up like soldiers and reenact historical events. I'm talking about the fine folks who bring true stories to life. Not like on Lifetime movies though; I'm talking the people on shows like A Haunting, or Unsolved Mysteries, or any other number of awesome shows that provide us a chance to see what really or may have happened on that mysterious day in question. Bonus when they show footage of the actual person they're depicting talking and they look barely anything like them, except maybe the same hair color. It must be sort of validating, I mean yeah, you had a traumatic experience with a ghost or whatnot but you get a chance to tell your story and have a more attractive version of your ordinary normal self do so. So, hats off to you, people who do TV shows pretending they're real people that had terrible things happen to them. Now we can all share in their misery/intrigue/scurry sitches.

Best Moments of Inauguration Day 2009

"I'm a lefty. Get used to it."  Obama

"I may not be able to dance but I sure like holding her!" Biden on dancing at a ball with his wife Jill.

"This man was born for this." Beyonce on Obama in tears after her performance.

"Will.i.am will sing us A New Day and we're going to go see some balls!" Larry King getting to the nitty gritty of the night. (it could have been going to go to some balls but he slurred over it and I like my version better)

"I'd like to dance with the person who's brung me, who does everything I do, but she does it backwards, in heels." Obama trotting out the one-liner pony he rode to every ball. Mr. President, those in attendance at the balls may not see that you are recycling dialogue (though it is green of you) but those with CNN have seen you say that line at 9 balls.

"we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right." Rev. Joseph Lowery infusing some rhymes into his benediction. This guy rocks.

"The Fall Out Boys performed..." Usher reporting from the Youth Ball to Larry King, sounding very un-youthful. I guess you have a kid and you lose all touch with the young ones.

I am going to bed right after the Tim Gunn interview with Larry King is over. I love that LK is staying up late and giving an entire segment to how Tim Gunn views the fashion of all Obamas.

Girl Meets Topanga

I wish.

Topanga Lawrence, or, the lovely lady who played Topanga Lawrence, has been trying to get in my brain for a few years now.

First- the names. Topanga AND Danielle Fishel (which I have been incorrectly pronouncing so it rhymes). Try to get THOSE out of your head. Can't can ya?

Second- the hair. Nuff said.

Ms. Fishel's first attempt was through a humorous piece of fiction I read on the internet called The Topanga Files. It has been awhile but I believe it was letters from a Topanga stalker. Of course, I can no longer find the Topanga Files on the internet. Damn.

In her second attempt, Danielle got arrested for DUI becoming another in a long line of long forgotten celebrities who comes back into the public eye through an arrest. Hey guys- buzzed driving IS drunk driving.

Next- my brother and/or sister in law told me about The Dish. "It is like The Soup but for girls" was how they described it to me. Loving The Soup, I wanted to check it out. But my memory is shorter than a goldfish's, so it wasn't until Brett Bretterson thoughtfully DVRed it for me so I could watch it at my leisure that I got to see the genius that is:

Danielle Fishel. Funny Commentator Lady.

If you get the Style network- watch it. I am falling in love with Topanga all over again. So I was thinking of maybe mentioning it on the old b-log when SUDDENLY, THIS WEEK............

Danielle did a plug for OVARIAN CANCER RESEARCH at the end of her show. This girl can do no wrong. I am on this kick now where I am desparately searching for products, companies, celebrities, fund raisers, events, races, whatever that benefit ovarian cancer research.

For YEARS it has been breast cancer this and wear pink that- this is very important- I am aware. Don't get me wrong- I understand that we needed to raise awareness and get funding and all that ish, but now I think the fact that EVERYTHING produced in the month of October in pink means we have done a GREAT job in building the awareness. I think this is an easier task than for ovarian cancer because it does affect so many women (and men for that matter), so bravo, thanks Susan G. Kommen's family, lets take this energy and direct some towards ovarian cancer. First and foremost, a reliable screening needs to be developed to detect this cancer. Let's get on it.

Cut back to Topanga love- at the end of the Dish this week, Danielle gave a shout out to run for her, a race/walk to benefit ovarian cancer research. This definitely put her over the wall of blogworthy versus not blogworthy. Thanks, Danielle! Let me know if I can knit you a teal scarf!

And the rest of you- look into the battle against ovarian cancer. It is a very scary thing because it is very hard to detect in early stages. I expect to see a hell of a lot more teal next September- yeah- ovarian cancer has a month too!
